Summer Classes with Rebekah Wilhelm
Advanced Composition 2008-2009 with Rebekah Wilhelm
Rebekah Wilhelm, a former student of Debra Bell, is an honors English major at Hillsdale College, Michigan. She has received numerous academic scholarships and writing awards and has experience in teaching, tutoring, and editing. This is her fourth year teaching High School Composition. Email instructor with questions and for an application and permission to register: Rebekah Wilhelm Fee: $375 (Apply early. Enrollment is
limited and the class fills quickly.) Many students know "how to write." However, most high schoolers are not yet ready for advanced courses such as AP Composition or AP Literature. While they can string words together and communicate basic ideas, they need concentrated, in-depth work with style and organization. High School Composition is designed to develop these students' writing abilities, helping them to write clearly, concisely, and creatively in multiple genres. Aiming to produce strong and stylish prose (both nonfiction and fiction), we will work with a variety of projects and readings throughout the year, both to increase students' skills and help them to discover the joy of writing.
